Photographing Your Home
When it comes to taking photos of your home, we’ve seen it all! Trust us, we know what works and what doesn’t. To showcase your home in the best light possible, there are a few guidelines to keep in mind. If you’re not comfortable taking the photos yourself, you could always hire a local photography professional to do it for you, but most modern mobile phone cameras will do the trick just fine.
We suggest taking at least 9 photos and no more than 14. The goal is to provide just enough to give potential buyers a good sense of your home without overwhelming them with too many details
Ideally, you want to take photos on a sunny day, but if that’s not possible, use your best judgment.
A great tip is to take the photos slightly off to the side, rather than straight on, to show off the depth of the building. Experiment with different angles to find the best one. Try multiple angles and chose the best one.
When taking photos inside, make sure to turn on all the lights, draw the curtains, and lift the blinds. Remove any clutter and consider adding fresh flowers or fruit for a pop of color.
Try taking photos from a lower level rather than eye level. Taking photos from too high or low can distort the viewer’s perspective and make the photos look a bit wonky.
Remember to remove any personal details or sensitive information that may be visible in the photos. Keep it simple and avoid going overboard with too many “lifestyle” shots.
Capture the main rooms of the house as well as the garden, but don’t go overboard with too many photos. Choose a selection of the best ones that showcase your home in the best way possible.
You can edit your photos to enhance the colors and make them look their best, but avoid going overboard with filters or editing that makes your home look overly “perfect.” We want potential buyers to see a true reflection of your home, not a Snapchat filter!
Follow our tips above and you’re guaranteed to get the photographs you need to show your home in its very best light! If you need further help & advice, our helpful support team is just an email away – so feel free to get in touch!
